Things to know

• The Seaport's Tin Building food hall closed permanently in February 2026 — any guide still sending you there is out of date. Pier 17 itself is very much open.
• Weekends and evenings are quieter here than anywhere else in Manhattan, and several FiDi lunch counters close entirely at the weekend. Check hours before crossing town for one.
• The Staten Island Ferry is free, runs around the clock from Whitehall Terminal, and gives you the harbour view that the paid harbour cruises charge for. You do have to disembark and re-board on the Staten Island side.
• The 9/11 Memorial pools are free and open daily; only the Museum is ticketed. Plenty of visitors pay for the Museum without realising the memorial itself costs nothing.
• Stone Street is the neighbourhood's outdoor drinking room from roughly April to October and is a construction-adjacent alley the rest of the year.
• Distances look bigger than they are. The Battery to the Seaport is about twenty-five minutes on foot, and you pass most of the neighbourhood's sights doing it.
