Things to know
The MNAT (National Archaeological Museum) on Plaça del Rei is closed for renovation — works began in 2025 and reopening is scheduled for late 2026. A temporary TARRACO/MNAT exhibition is open at Tinglado 4 on the port's Costa Wharf.
The Forum de la Colònia (Local Forum) is also closed for renovation since April 2025 — check the official site for reopening status.
Most Roman monuments share a single combined ticket (~€15) covering the Amphitheatre, Praetorium/Circus, Forum, and Walls/Passeig Arqueològic. Buy at any of the sites.
Mondays: most municipal Roman sites are closed. The Cathedral is open Monday–Saturday. Plan around it.
Summer kitchens close 4–8:30pm. Lunch service runs to 4pm; dinner from 8:30 onward.
From Barcelona: the in-town Tarragona station is a 15-minute walk to the old town; Camp de Tarragona (the AVE high-speed station) is 10 km out — the AVE is faster on paper but the Renfe regional R16 is often more time-efficient end-to-end.
